While Shoot ‘Em Up star Monica Bellucci was in the south of France for the closing ceremony of Cannes, thieves were stealing tens of thousands of dollars in jewelry from her Paris apartment—as well as Bellucci’s passport.

“It was clearly a meticulously planned burglary…there have been plenty of cases of the homes of professional footballers being targeted while they are playing in high-profile matches,” said an investigating officer. “But this appears to be the first time that the same kind of thing has happened to actors.’”

Bellucci and husband Vincent Cassel (Ocean’s Twelve) were at Cannes to promote her French thriller, Don’t Look Back and his Brazilian drama, Adrift. The couple has yet to comment on the robbery.

Brangelina aside, almost all of our favorite celebrities at Cannes attended last night’s charity dinner and auction for amFAR’s Cinema Against Aids. Robert Pattinson, Peaches Geldof, Hayden Panettiere, Donatella Versace, former president Bill Clinton and leg-barin’ Sharon Stone were just a handful of those present—oh yes, Paris Hilton & Doug Reinhardt were accounted for as well.

Highlights included Stone’s tribute to Natasha Richardson and Pattison auctioning off two kisses for 40,000 euros (dude is one high-priced gigolo). Overall, the benefit raised $4.5 million for amFAR. Check out the gallery to see who else was there.

Cannes isn’t all parties and film deals for Paris Hilton. The socialite and boyfriend Doug Reinhardt took to the pool at the Eden Roc Hotel to soak in some rays and pose for the paparazzi. If Paris was worried about her skimpy swimsuit shifting inconveniently, she didn’t let anyone know.

This year’s Cannes jury doesn’t run low on glamor. Headed by French actress Isabelle Huppert, the panel includes Asia Argento (found in everything from NC-17 art flicks to Vin Diesel’s XXX), Robin Wright Penn, and Shu Qi from The Transporter among the international coterie of performers and directors. If their appearance at the festival-opening screening of Up is any indication, we should see them in plenty of beautiful outfits before they pick the Palme d’Or.
